Reviews
Theatre | Blue Whale
"BLUE WHALE by Annie Power was another favourite of the night. The writing about two young women experiencing cyber bullying is another modern-day issue that needs airing. Played beautifully by Hayley Osborne and Heather Warne, the two girls become friends and ultimately go to their deaths together. It is remarkable that in such a short play, their situation and the resulting suicide are so believable. The writing contains a sense of rap, and rhythm, and uses direct audience address, which gave the actors something wonderful to play with, whilst the director got all the action and blocking absolutely spot on. The ending is particularly moving and the final words about their deaths ending up on social media with nastily descriptive words like ‘splat’ shows abject cruelty and hits home very hard." - London Pub Theatres
Theatre | A Novel Approach
"A Novel Approach was for me by far the highlight of the evening. A brilliantly written performance using a very unique and interesting idea about an author struggling with the dreaded writers' block... I will definitely be keeping an eye on any plays by Annie Power in the future!" - Remote Goat
"Witty and full of one-liners, this is an inventive piece brilliantly directed and performed." - SoSoGay
"This charming and funny story offers smoothly crafted entertainment. There are moments of wicked humour in this play, which vividly explores the themes of artistic creation, the power of the imagination and the frustrations of being always in constant search of inspiration." - London Culture Show
"Laugh out loud funny... a fresh and fast-paced comedy." - UK Theatre Network
"Centered around the writer and her soul-crushing moment of writer’s block, this witty and sarcastic comedy explores the inspiration from her muse and the cringe-worthy cliches imagined by the main characters, when they take matters into their own hands." - Maybe It's Because I'm A Londoner
